The message behind Alone

Hi, people!

Today I want to share with you one of the most important aspects of my short story, Alone: its message.

Although this is a short story, there’s a strong message behind it. Of course, that message depends on the perception of the reader, but I think that everyone who reads it, will come to very similar conclusions.

Alone is the story of a man who loses everything he has. It was all taken away from him, out of the sudden, no explanations.

But why?

He’s in the middle of the ocean, somewhere in the world, scared at the realization that all the money in the world is not enough to save him from his current situation. The psycological impact that this plight has on his mind is his worst enemy.

So the story develops around two undeniable facts:

1.- There are things that money cannot buy.

2.-Pessimism and depression are both killers of the spirit.

As well, there are many questions implicit, waiting for us, readers, to answer according to our beliefs and own opinions.

In conclusion, Alone is a story that traps the reader and makes them think and ponder their own beliefs and perceptions of how complicated human nature is.

La Historia detrás de Abuso de Debilidad

Si bien Abuso de Debilidad es una historia ficticia, esta se basa en hechos reales, específicamente en el controvertido caso Woerth-Bettencourt. Aunque para muchos el caso no les parezca familiar, para quienes están al día con las noticias en Francia sabrán de qué estoy hablando.

Se trata nada más y nada menos de aquel escándalo noticioso que tenía como uno de sus más notables protagonistas al mismísimo ex-presidente de Francia, Nicolas Sarkozy, a quien se le acusaba de haber financiado la campaña presidencial de 2007 ilegalmente con fondos otorgados por Liliane Bettencourt, en quien se inspiró el personaje de Léonore Bourgeois.

La historia es, en gran medida, muy diferente a la realidad, considerando que los personajes son ficticios, al igual que sus historias personales. Sin embargo, la base de este libro es un caso de la vida real; la acusación por abuso de debilidad contra personajes clave del antiguo gobierno francés.

A partir de allí se desarrolla una trama donde los límites entre lo político y la moral son difusos, y es aquí donde sería interesante observar los juicios hechos por el lector, bien sea a favor o en contra de los personajes involucrados en el caso. Definitivamente, una historia emocionante que no querrás dejar de leer hasta llegar a su gran final.

Continúa la Lucha entre Léonore Bourgeois y su hija Lorène Bourgeois-Molyneux

Después de años de disputa, aún continúa la lucha por la herencia de Léonore Bourgeois por parte de su hija, Lorène. Desde la muerte del multimillonario, Albert Bourgeois, la fortuna de madame ha pendido de un hilo, siendo que su hija ha solicitado su inhabilitación, de acuerdo a fuentes cercanas a la susodicha. Y es que desde que Lorène demandó al fotógrafo Adam Becher por abuso de debilidad, tanto madre como hija se han visto envueltas en una disputa que no parece tener fin.

Todo comenzó con la muerte de Albert Bourgeois, dueño de la famosa firma “Geois”, hace unos años por causas naturales. Toda su fortuna quedó en manos de Léonore Bourgeois, y se sabe que a partir de este hecho, Adam Becher frecuentaba la mansión Bourgeois más de la cuenta, lo cual no fue del agrado de Lorène Bourgeois-Molyneux. Finalmente, la hija de la heredera sorprendió a los medios al demandar al fotógrafo por abuso de debilidad, considerando los jugosos regalos que recibía Becher por parte de madame (desde millonarias obras de arte hasta dos suculentos seguros de vida).

Esto provocó la furia de Bourgeois, quien comenzó a tener disputas con su hija debido a sus acciones. La tensión creció hace un par de días, cuando Lorène decidió solicitar a un juez a inhabilitar a madame, alegando que esta no se encontraba en capacidad de gestionar su inmensa fortuna (se dice que sufre de un Alzheimer irreversible). Desde entonces, la anciana heredera ha demostrado su descontento, alegando que dejar su fortuna en manos de Lorène sería el equivalente a “un golpe en la entrepierna” y “la muerte en vida”, e incluso ha amenazado con marcharse del país si la sentencia se aplica. Hasta ahora se sabe que Léonore se ha rehusado a someterse a exámenes médicos para determinar su condición física, lo cual podría ralentizar el proceso solicitado por su hija…
